Study Skills Instruction

Beyond the primary grades, the growing demands of a diverse and intensive curriculum present significant challenges for a great many students. In addition to specific content that might prove to be difficult, students must develop effective learning behaviors and routines for managing the tasks required of them. At the Bowie Center, instruction for these students integrates the development of effective, independent learning strategies with support in the specific content demands of school. Students are taught strategies for better organization, planning and time management, as well as methods for comprehending text, preparing for tests, researching a topic, writing, and more.
