Basic Math Instruction

For students who have struggled learning mathematics in school, we offer Moving with Math, a developmental program that demonstrates and explains mathematical concepts with concrete materials. Instruction is manipulative or models based, which numerous research studies have shown helps students move from the concrete to the abstract stage of learning. Hands-on activities such as drawing pictures, acting out problems, and finding patterns encourage student reasoning and problem solving. The objectives in the program closely parallel the core objectives of the major basal texts as well as national, state and local testing instruments. The program includes diagnostic testing, which helps determine at what level and with which concepts the student should begin working. Instruction is available for children kindergarten age and up.
